Conditions in the mouth – such as periodontitis or slow wound healing after surgical procedures – are often closely linked to systemic processes, nutrient deficiencies, or chronic inflammation. Nutrients and bone metabolism

Vitamin D3 (25-OH-Vitamin D)
Essential for the incorporation of calcium into the jawbone. A deficiency weakens the density of the alveolar bone, increases the risk of periodontitis, and impairs the osseointegration of dental implants.
Calcium and phosphate
The main building blocks of tooth enamel and jawbone. The balance between these two minerals determines bone preservation.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
Essential for collagen synthesis in the periodontium. A deficiency leads to bleeding gums and tissue breakdown.
Vitamin B12 and folic acid
Deficiencies show up early in the oral cavity through mucosal atrophy, burning tongue (glossitis), and slowed tissue regeneration.

Inflammation and immune markers

hs-CRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein)
Indicates systemic inflammation in the body. Chronic periodontitis continuously raises hs-CRP levels, which in turn increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
HbA1c (long-term blood sugar)
Diabetes mellitus and periodontitis influence each other reciprocally. A high HbA1c value worsens microcirculation in the gums and leads to increased susceptibility to infection.
Blood count (leukocytes, erythrocytes, hemoglobin)
Anemia (iron deficiency) reduces the oxygen supply to tissue – pale mucosa, a tendency toward periodontitis, and poor wound healing can result.
